Some feelings are bigger than words. Honest Monsters come from things we don’t know how to say or things we need to hear but don’t know how to ask for. Instead of trying to force a person to process their feelings quickly or perfectly, these creatures channel artistic expression as a way to explore feelings before there are words attached. The Monsters started as a personal project in 2018, when I was trying to process a difficult time in my life. When a friend discovered the monsters and encouraged me to share, I found there was a whole world of people looking to find creatures of their own to help them through difficult patches.
Is this a Children's Book?
Not necessarily. The content in this book covers emotional issues handled by an adult, so it may have themes such as work, relationships and existential crisis that kids are less familiar with, but there is no nudity, violence or drug use in this content.

As someone who has struggled with my identity and the grief of the many versions of myself. This book is an amazing view into the mind of someone like me. I try to read it as often and as much as I can. It reminds me I am not alone, it reminds me I am where I need to be. We all go through so much change as we become the person we Invision ourselves as. It at times seems so intangible. I love the concept of having these little guys to Invision as I walk the path of uncertainty and change. It helps me put a more ideal view on parts of me and my thoughts that may at times seem so vile. These monsters are more common than we think and that's okay. We are all damaged to a degree and trying our best to heal. Thank you kira for helping me see myself as the multifaceted and deeply complex person I am.

Fun, enlightening, eye-opening, humorous and with a “OMG that’s me how did they know?” reaction. Love this book, its message and the illustrations. Highly recommend.
Love the book. I find it extraordinary, and am tempted to buy one for everyone I know! We can all relate to the complex emotions so aptly described, and it is so good to see these feelings depicted and externalized as the individual monsters. Highly recommend!
