Kira MagCalen is a low-brow artist and Author based in Denver, Colorado. She is a member of the Denver Art Society and has had her work exhibited in multiple galleries across the city. In 2023 she won the Denver Fringe Festival Poster design challenge. She's best known for her Honest Monsters Series, a pairing of illustrated monsters and the feelings they represent. Kira has published a book of the first 100 monsters and teaches workshops providing participants with tools to understand their own difficult emotions and experiences through art. Prior to focusing on her artistic career, Kira was a standup comedian known for her dark humor and down-to-earth stage presence and was a 20219 and 2021 selected performer at High Plains Comedy Festival.

When she isn't creating artwork, Kira enjoys the outdoors, with a particular interest in mycology, botany, and foraging. She also enjoys playing guitar and hanging out with her cat, Oranges.
